Washington Millennium Centre

Washington Millennium Centre acts as a community hub facilitating a range of activities for local people and has 29 other voluntary sector groups using the site catering for all ages. Users range from Babies and young children in the new play facilities, Millie’s Magical Garden to pensioners who attend both the fitness suite and other pensioners groups based at the centre. See ‘downloads’ for the centre’s timetable leaflet and children’s party leaflet.

We also have a number of partners on site including a community library operated by Sunderland City Council, plus we offer training courses in partnership with Sunderland College, Football Coaching with SAFC Foundation and youth clubs in partnership with Oxclose Young Peoples Project.

The centre’s fitness suite was extended in 2007 as a result of Barclays Spaces for Sport funding and refurbished 3 years ago to replace all the CV equipment. The funding enabled us to fully equip the fitness suite with state of the art Technogym equipment and to develop a partnership with the Foundation of Light to develop football coaching and other activities with the refurbishment of the football pitch.

The fitness suite is open 7 days a week.
