Sunderland City Council's Active Sunderland Team currently offers the following FREE weekly walks:
Health Walks: A series of weekly led health walks that take place at various locations across the City of Sunderland. The walks are accredited by the National Walking for Health Programme and last between 30 and 90 minutes.
The walks take in the varied landscape of Sunderland, ranging from the coast and woodlands to local parks and urban areas. They are an excellent way to get out in the fresh air, meet new people and improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
Walks are delivered by friendly, qualified Volunteer Walk Leaders who tailor the walks to be suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities. It is advisable to dress for the weather and wear comfortable supportive footwear.
Other services not part of the Walking for Health scheme include:
Nordic Walking: Walking Poles are provided
Self guided Heritage & Park Walks: Available to download as a pdf from Sunderland City Council's Active Sunderland website or hard copies can be posted on request.
All new walkers are asked to contact the scheme co-ordinators to check the current walking programme and for any further information on walking opportunities in Sunderland
