Home to College Transport (SEN)

Provision of transport from Home to College for qualifying students with Special Educational Needs or medical difficulties. Transport is procured, monitored and managed by the Local Authority to provide a high level of standards and safety for the students transported.

Description

Criteria for access

A student must be attending a qualifying placement and reside within the area of Sunderland City Council.  The age criterion for this service is 16-25 years.

The student must have had an Education, Health and Care Plan outlining his/her difficulties.  A student with medical conditions affecting travel will also be considered for assistance but medical advice must be provided on application.

The distance criterion remains at over 3 miles from the student's home address to the college placement.
