Next week is Big Energy Savings Week 2019! Big Energy Saving Week 2019 (BESW) is a national campaign to help consumers understandtheir energy use, cut their bills and get the financial support they are entitled to. BESW is apartnership campaign between Citizens Advice, Citizens Advice Scotland, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and numerous other organisations. It is funded through a statutorylevy on energy network companies. We know that energy bills are a significant challenge for many of our clients and Big Energy Saving Week aims tooffer direct help and advice on saving money and energy this winter. We will have tablets and information available to see if people can save money if they switch – for an accurate readingplease bring your energy bills along. We will also have a thermometer to tot up how much people have saved if theyswitch over the course of the week. "During last year’s Big Energy Saving Week, Citizens Advice helped a client with a partner and child in private rentedaccommodation. He works full time and is in receipt of benefits to top up his income. The client had never switched hissupplier before. An adviser went through all the steps with him on and showedhim that he could save £552.54 per year. We hope to help many more people this year.”
