Where can I access careers information, advice and guidance?

If you are currently unemployed and aged between 16-19 years old or up to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities, you can access support from Together for Children’s Careers and NEET service. You can contact them on 0191 5614048 to arrange an appointment.

You can also contact the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 to speak to an adviser. Lines are open from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Calls are free from landlines and most mobile numbers. Or for more ways to contact NCS go to https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/contact-us

Where can I get support to look for employment opportunities?

You can search for jobs online on the GOV.UK job search website. There are also a number of websites where Job & Apprenticeship Vacancies are advertised online and some useful ones to try are:

You can also sign up with recruitment agencies in your area. 

Who can support me to develop my employability skills?

There are many community organisations based throughout Sunderland who offer both one to one and group support to develop the employability skills required to gain employment.

Where can I access training courses in specific job areas?

There are organisations who offer vocational training in a range of job sector areas in Sunderland, where you can gain experience and qualifications to support you into employment.  It is important to check the age and other eligibility criteria for courses.
